harbourparadeAt the border between the Sea-Front and the historic core of the Old Town in Margate, Harbour Parade has been improved to provide outdoor seating and al fresco dining for three restaurants, side by side. This small area has a panoramic view of the historic harbour and its regeneration has a real continental feel with customers from three different restaurants sharing the terrace.

We developed a series of small luminaires installed into the traditional fan shaped granite sett paving. The luminaires are textured to match the granite and by day assume the colour of the surrounding mortar. The result is that they are almost invisible by day as they self colour to match their surroundings. After dark the setts are internally lit creating a cool blue white glow from the embedded LED.

The fittings are resin cast, extremely tough and have a life and wear factor similar to the granite paving. We expect a working life of between 20 and 30 years from the scheme. We have developed this new and unique lighting product as a creative solution for other paving installations. The fittings are fully waterproof, low cost and require no maintenance. 50 fittings are powered from a single 26W power supply.
