Blue
Well is a sculpture by Chris Marshall. The sculpture is at
the centre of a new tranquil space for patients, staff and
visitors between the new wing of University Hospital
Lewisham and the park. The sculpture is made from hand cast
glass quadrants arranged in a stack representing an
inverted well.
The
art is lit from a series of small dimmable spotlights set
into a custom designed base at the centre of the sculpture.
The base is below ground level to reduce daytime visibility
The
lights cross-fade to play light up and down the interior of
the piece. Light refracts and reflects casting subtle water
patterns onto the paving surrounding the piece. We worked
with Chris through conception to ensure that his vision of
the piece was realised as expected.
